Fics is a full-service home improvement and remodeling company serving Maryland. We take pride in the craftsmanship, transparency, and personal service we bring to every project — from decks, patios, and porches to full home renovations. We’re in a growth phase and need a hands-on Project Manager who can help organize, stabilize, and drive our production department forward.
Position Overview:
This is not your average management role. We’re looking for someone who understands the real-world challenges of construction — cash flow timing, juggling crews, customer communication, and getting projects completed with excellence even when resources are tight. You’ll take ownership of all open and new jobs, ensuring that timelines, materials, and budgets are aligned from start to finish.
We’re looking for a leader who thrives in the field, can earn the respect of the crews, and has the business sense to make sure every job gets done profitably and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct initial walk-throughs on new jobs and final walk-throughs when jobs are completed.
• Collect reviews and photos after project completion.
• Maintain an organized binder for each job, including contracts, material lists, permits, photos, change orders, and notes.
• Complete a full job breakdown: labor, material, subcontractors, and profit margins — and compare to the original salesman’s estimate.
• Create accurate material lists and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery based on each project’s payment schedule.
• Review open jobs currently in progress; walk each site to understand the status, contract details, and what’s left to finish.
• Handle punch-list items, scheduling the right people for the right tasks.
• Conduct weekly check-ins with management to review schedules, budgets, and open issues.
• Maintain daily communication with customers to update them on progress and manage expectations.
• Schedule and manage crews and subcontractors, ensuring work meets company quality standards and county code requirements.
• Bring new subcontractor resources when needed — strong community ties and reliable network are a major plus.
• Monitor cash flow, material purchases, and payment releases on each job.
Requirements:
• Proven project management or ownership experience in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of residential remodeling, permitting, and scheduling.
• Ability to manage budgets, track costs, and anticipate cash flow challenges.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills — able to manage both field and customer relationships.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be comfortable visiting multiple job sites daily.
• Basic computer and smartphone proficiency (Google Drive, spreadsheets, photos, messaging).
