This is a home office paper shredder manufactured by GBC in 2000. It was sold in the U.S in August and September of that year before it was recalled for safety reasons --it did not have a protective shield to guard against exposure to the cutting blades. Users who lifted the lid while the machine was shredding could come into contact with the moving blades. This shredder comes from the estate of my deceased brother. He purchased it brand new in 2000 and never saw a reason to return it when the recall was issued because (1) it worked fine and (2) he wasn't inclined to open the machine while the shredding blades were engaged. This is a home office shredder; it was not designed to shred heavy volumes of paper such as one encounters in offices. But the 75X model features cross-cutting blades which efficiently destroy a page to the point where it's impossible to obtain sensitive information such as SSNs, DOB, acct #s, etc. I cannot attest to the condition of this shredder's moving parts, so I'm selling it as is. But it does work.
