About Align Broadband

Align Broadband is a rapidly growing ISP and wireless internet provider serving residential, commercial, and multi-tenant properties. We build and operate fiber and fixed wireless infrastructure that delivers reliable, high-performance internet throughout urban environments.

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Level 2 or Level 3) who understands not only network engineering and administration, but also the physical infrastructure that supports a successful WISP and ISP operation.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of professional network engineering experience and possesses a complete understanding of the broadband service delivery lifecycle - from network design and routing to customer installations and inside wiring.

This is not a desk-only engineering position. We are looking for someone who understands the entire operation and can contribute both strategically and technically.

The successful candidate will have experience with:

• MikroTik RouterOS administration and network design
• Ubiquiti wireless technologies including airFiber, airMAX, and UniFi
• Routing, switching, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, firewalling, and traffic management
• Service provisioning and customer turn-up procedures
• Wireless network planning and deployment
• Network monitoring and troubleshooting
• Fiber and Ethernet network architecture
• Inside wiring systems for commercial and multi-dwelling buildings
• Structured cabling installation and management
• CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cable installation
• Fiber splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting
• Copper terminations, punch-downs, crimping, and certification testing
• Building riser design and pathway planning
• Managing and overseeing wiring technicians and installation crews

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Align Broadband's network infrastructure
• Configure and administer MikroTik routers and switching platforms
• Manage wireless backhaul and customer access networks utilizing Ubiquiti equipment
• Provision new customer services and troubleshoot network issues
• Design scalable network architectures for residential and commercial deployments
• Plan and oversee structured cabling and inside wiring projects
• Perform site surveys and develop deployment plans
• Support fiber deployment, splicing, testing, and activation activities
• Create and maintain network documentation and diagrams
• Assist with network expansion initiatives throughout the Baltimore market
• Coordinate with installation technicians, contractors, building owners, and customers

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of network engineering experience
• Experience working for a WISP, ISP, telecommunications provider, MSP, or similar organization preferred
• Strong understanding of MikroTik RouterOS
• Strong understanding of Ubiquiti wireless platforms
• Experience designing and operating production networks
• Knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and QoS
• Experience with fiber optic and copper-based network infrastructure
• Ability to troubleshoot both physical and logical network issues
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
