Guilford Road near Washinton Boulevard
2BR / 2Ba 1015ft2 available now
rent period: monthly
Available at Gateway Village Apartments. Idyllic location in Jessup near historic Savage.

The room is a 13' x 11'2" private setup. It faces northeast. The northeast wall comprises three large windows, which allow light to come in all day and provide a beautiful natural view of a pond with ducks, geese, and foxes. The evening sound of frogs is present from May through September. Geese are common in the spring and fall. On the south wall there is a glass door to a shared balcony (also accessible from the living room) and a private full bath (with tub and shower). The room is carpeted, so no eating or drinking in the room is allowed (except for water). A large and pleasant living and dining area (with wood-burning fireplace) is available for all drinks and meals. On the north wall, there is a large walk-in closet.

The room is fully furnished without space for additional items. The room contains modern white furniture as follows: one firm queen bed (with sheets, pillow and pillowcase, blanket, and duvet), two bedside tables/cabinets, four cabinets and drawers along the edge of the wall, three lamps, an antique cherry rocking chair (by the balcony door), and a desk shelving unit on the western wall (across from the bed). Art is already hung on the walls and no further wall hangings are permitted. If you need to store anything other than clothes, there is a CubeSmart one mile away at the intersection of Guilford Road and Washington Boulevard (Rte. 1). Balconies are not allowed to store anything other than balcony furniture (no bikes, gills, etc.).

I have an open-door policy inside the home: doors may be closed for privacy (e.g. when showering/changing, for phone calls, etc.) and in the evening after 8 p.m. I have this policy for two reasons: First, prior tenants have violated rules (e.g., by drilling, vaping, eating and drinking, abusing their partner, burning candles, and so on). Second, the bedroom provides most of the light to the middle of the apartment (a corridor) and the home is brighter when the bedroom doors are open. The apartment has quiet hours after 9 p.m. on worknights and after 11 p.m. on weekend nights.

There is a fully functional galley kitchen with fridge, over, stove top, microwave, toaster oven, cake mixer, and dishwasher. You will be provided with a private set of non-stick cooking pots and pans, plates and bowls, and cutlery. The fridge will be shared and each person in the apartment is responsible for their own food and kitchen supplies (foil, detergents, and so on). (Alternatively, supplies can be a common cost split by the parties.) Kitchen knives and appliances may be shared, but care should be taken to follow expectations.

The living room has large, vaulted ceilings and a pleasant wood-burning fireplace. The apartment is on the top floor of the building, so there are no sounds of feet above and the apartment is extremely quiet, generally filled with the sound of nature. There is a stereo and record player in the living room, but no TV. TVs are not permitted, although you may watch streaming in your bedroom with the use of headphones or earbuds. I am an academic and keep a quiet home. I listen to a lot of music on vinyl and the radio (WTMD, Rock, and country), all at low volume.

The apartment is located at the intersection of Guilford Road and Washington Boulevard (Route 1), not far from the Route 32 interchange. The MARC station is 3.3 miles away at Savage. It is 12.8 miles from BWI airport. This apartment provides very easy access to Baltimore, DC, Annapolis, and 70W toward the countryside and Frederick.

First month, last month, and a security deposit will be required. I retain Head of Household on the lease with the ability to provide you with 60-days' notice to vacate, per the lease. If you rent for the year, you will be on the lease and must apply through Rental Office. I can provide you with the required information after viewings.

NB: Price negotiable when used as crash pad or housing for a traveling nurse with limited overnights per month.

There are four well-behaved cats in the apartment. Their litter box is in the Master bathroom.
