Phantom Guitar Works uses solid Cuban mahogany for the body, and high-quality hard-rock maple for the neck; this example features an ebony fingerboard, which is n upgrade option. It features proprietary single-coil pickups and hardware, and the guitar is hand-wired with silver solder. It also features a Bigsby style tremolo and a roller nut for greater tuning stability. . The 25.5″ Scale length is 43mm at the nut for a fabulous feel!
But the thing that separates this guitar from the regular Phantom is the built-in effects. Three great effects taken from the immortal Vox Super Beatle amp, the Vox Fuzz, 3-position MRB (mid range boost) and Repeat circuit, are built right into the guitar and are fully controlled by controls on the face of the instrument (volume and tone knobs are push-pull and active each effect in the up position). And unlike the original Vox Phantom VI Special, you can bypass all of the effects and just play the proprietary pickups, which are described by PGW as as jangly and clean, reminiscent of the Vox Phantom, but with a more refined and balanced tone..
