When I first saw this Tagima (Ta-Gee-Ma) guitar from Brazil, I was amazed by the level of stylistic touches, including the beautiful headstock inlay, the mother-of-pearl rings decorating the sound hole and the way that the metal was worked on the open gear tuning machines. Then I flipped it over and the decoration may have been the pinnacle of the design-a floral arrangement cut into the wood of the guitar in contrasting woods and mother-of-pear.
The top is nicely figured spruce, and the body is, unsurprisingly, Brazilian rosewood. They combine to make a sweet, balanced tone for strumming or fingerstyle.
The guitar is in flawless condition. I gave it a pro setup with new Martin phosphor bronze strings (12s) and the neck is straight, with no buzzes, false notes or other sonic anomalies. Action is currently set to low-medium.
The outfit includes a nearly new soft case (too nice to call it a gig bag) with substantial padding for protecting this lovely musical artifact.
