Description:
An incredible opportunity to own a legendary piece of acoustic guitar design: an authentic Giannini Craviola 12-string, c. 2009. Famous for its asymmetrical, ergonomic lute-meets-acoustic body shape, the Craviola is as comfortable to play as it is striking to look at. It’s as much a mid-century sculptural artwork as an excellent and unique guitar design, with a very carefully considered voice. What it’s hard to get until you see one up close: the compass is jumbo sized, with the sculptural aspects jumping out large as life.
Tonally, it offers a beautifully unique, shimmering 12-string chorus effect that’s less boomy and more focused than a traditional 12-string dreadnought. It sits beautifully in a recording mix without crowding the low frequencies. Perfect for a collector, a studio owner looking for a unique sonic flavor, or anyone wanting a conversation piece that plays great. Action is low, play is easy.
The neck is perfect, the bridge is secure, and it’s ready and easy to play. There’s one slightly cloudy patch on the top wood, bass side. The patch is factory sealed by the finish and is not a player caused cosmetic flaw. See images as part of the description. Electronics were never used and are untested by the seller. I played it only at home and kept it in a climate controlled space.
The vintage padded leatherette zip bag is in good shape. It was added as a bonus when I bought a Guild classical guitar from Chris Squire’s (Yes) assistant when he was moving. I married the padded zip bag to the Crav when it arrived in a cheap flimsy bag with a carved piece of packing foam as a make-shift neck support.
The Giannini Craviola: noted in many sources for its unique voice and unique design.
Reason for selling: am doing a major sweep of my studio toward specific other models.
This listing is cross-listed and will be removed as soon as possible should it sell elsewhere.
