Purchased through the Popular Club Plan in the late 1950s/early 1960s.
The "Popular Club Plan" was a U.S. company and catalog retailer founded in 1947, offering customers a way to purchase a wide range of general merchandise, including clothing, home decor, and various household items, through a door-to-door catalog business and a weekly payment plan.
I remember one of the neighborhood ladies was a Popular Club Representative. She would come by to collect payment from my mom each week for items she had purchased. It was a budget-friendly way for her to shop in the comfort of her own home. There was also the social aspect, as a pot of coffee was always brewing in our kitchen for anyone who stopped by. :)
Wear consistent with age and use
This item has been in storage for a while and requires a thorough polishing, a lampshade, and is a good example of mid-century modern furniture.
