Job Title: Nursing Professional Development Practitioner – Family Birth Place
Locion: Carroll Hospital, 200 Memorial Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Job Summary:
Carroll Hospital is seeking a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner to support the Family Birth Place. This role blends educion, mentorship, oriention oversight, and interdisciplinary collaborion to advance clinical excellence and professional development for frontline nursing staff. The NPD Practitioner functions as a facilitor, mentor, advisor, and partner in promoting evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and high-quality pient care, in alignment with ANA Nursing Professional Development Scope and Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Educion & Professional Development
Facilite real-time, needs-based learning and support staff requests.
Serve as a trusted resource, modeling professional practice and reinforcing evidence-based care.
Conduct rounding to assess knowledge/practice gaps and provide feedback for decision-making.
Collabore with multidisciplinary teams to design, implement, and evalue educion initiives.
Align educion across departments to standardize best practices and integre evidence-based practice.
Promote continuous professional growth through targeted learning opportunities.
Oriention & Onboarding
Coordine and evalue unit oriention for nursing staff and students.
Support preceptors in teaching stregies, competency validion, and schedule management.
Provide guidance for nursing student conversion to permanent roles.
Participe in Clinical Oriention and Nurse Residency programs as needed.
Professional Development & Mentorship
Mentor nurses and support staff to promote professional growth, certificion, and lifelong learning.
Provide individualized coaching for new gradues, specialty nurses, and experienced staff.
Ensure ongoing educion meets competency, certificion, and regulory standards.
Curriculum Development
Design, develop, and coordine system-wide curriculum aligned with organizional priorities.
Plan and implement educion programs using adult learning principles and evidence-based teaching stregies.
Identify and prioritize educional topics based on quality, safety, regulory requirements, and emerging technologies.
Deliver cost-effective, high-quality training tailored to diverse staff needs.
Interdisciplinary Collaborion & Quality
Partner with Clinical Leadership, Quality, and Compliance teams to align educion with performance metrics and organizional goals.
Serve as an educional resource for regulory and accredition readiness.
Use da and evidence-based findings to identify priorities and evalue program effectiveness.
Leadership
Promote critical thinking and resilience among nursing staff.
Collabore with frontline leadership on stregic planning, policy development, and educional initiives.
Support a culture of learning, excellence, and safe pient care.
Qualificions:
Required:
Registered Nurse (RN) license – Current Maryland license or eligibility
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required, Completion of MSN required within 2 years of hire.
Labor & Delivery experience required
Preferred:
Advanced Practice RN – Clinical Nurse Specialist (APRN-CNS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Certificion:
Nional certificion in Nursing Specialty or Nursing Professional Development required within 1 year of hire
