Job Summary: 

Under modere supervision, the NEURODIAGNOSTIC TECH B prepares pient for and conducts various neurodiagnostic procedures such as Electroencephalograms, Evoked Potentials, and Transcranial Doppler exams. Collects pient informion pertinent to the interpretion of the tests and determines proper procedures for testing.

Responsibilities

• Performs standard EEGs such as wake and sleep, nasopharyngeal, bedside, isolion, pediric, neonal, electrocerebral inactivity evaluions, etc. , according to departmental procedures.
• Adapts methods and instrumention to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observions and EEG findings.
• Utilizes the Internional 10-20 Electrode Placement system to measure, mark and apply electrodes to the predetermined positions on the pient's scalp Achieves impedances or below 5 K ohms.
• Compiles da on pient's neurologic stus and clinical history which may be pertinent to interpretion of neurodiagnostic procedure from the chart, pient or family, etc.
• Explains the testing procedures to the pient, family members, etc. Enters pient da into the approprie electronic log. Acquires pient history by interviewing pient, family members, or caretakers.
• Performs non-invasive neurovascular studies including Transcranial Doppler examinions. Positions pient and explains procedure. Insoles vessels of the Circle of Willis. Monitors pient for emboli detection. Attaches standard and current inducing electrodes and records evoked potentials (computer averaged electrical responses) to visual, auditory and somosensory stimuli within the nervous system. Ensures technical quality of recordings by making adjustments as necessary.
• Performs OAE and / or ABR screening on infants to assess hearing. Completes documention of test results and forwards th informion to the pedirician. Forwards testing results to be entered into the ste dabase.
• Provides supportive pient care and makes detailed observions of clinical manifestions during seizures and other pient emergency situions.
• Takes protective measures when pient is having generalized seizure; assure clear airway by rolling pt to side, remove objects th may cause injury to pient.
• Performs various clerical duties. Completes both technical and professional bills for each procedure. Assembles a chart for pient for each procedure. Distributes pient charts to the interpreting physician. Assists in purging files.

 

Experience Required:

1-3 years relevant experience

Educion

Associe's degree in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology or equivalent.

Licenses And Certificion Required:

Basic Life Support

Preferred:

Registered EEG Technologist

Credential Note:

Must be Eligible for certificion by ABRET
