Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider – Cardiac Surgery (PRN)

Locion: Sinai Hospital, Maryland
Department: Division of Cardiac Surgery
Schedule: PRN | On-Call & As Needed Coverage

PRN Pay: $100.00

Position Summary:

Sinai Hospital is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) – to join our Cardiac Surgery team on a PRN basis. This position requires prior experience in cardiac surgery, including proficiency in endoscopic and open saphenous vein harvesting, first-assisting in cardiac surgical procedures, and comprehensive perioperive pient care. The APP will work in a dynamic, high-acuity environment providing care across the Opering Room, Inpient Units, and Outpient Clinic, with scheduled on-call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Perioperive Surgical Duties:

• First-assist in all cardiac surgical procedures.

• Perform endoscopic and open saphenous vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting.

• Prepare harvested conduits and manage incision closure.

• Participe in preoperive preparion, intraoperive support, and immedie postoperive care in the OR.

• Provide scheduled surgical OR call coverage.

Inpient Care:

• Coordine care for cardiac surgery inpients.

• Perform comprehensive history and physical exams for all preoperive pients.

• Deliver daily postoperive management on the Open-Heart Step Down Unit (OHSD).

• Respond to cardiac surgery consults promptly.

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medicions, and develop care plans in collaborion with cardiac surgeons.

Outpient Clinic Duties:

• Conduct preoperive and postoperive evaluions.

• Manage pients in the cardiac surgery outpient clinic.

• Coordine care transitions to referring providers and specialty services.

Call Coverage:

• Provide on-call coverage from home, including urgent consults, emergent surgical cases, and inpient issues.

• Participe in ongoing educion and professional development in cardiac surgery.

Qualificions:

Educion & Licensure:

• Current Maryland license as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) (or eligibility to obtain).

• Certified by NCCPA (for PAs) or approprie NP board certificion.

• DEA registrion and Maryland CDS license required.

Certificions:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required

Experience:

• Cardiac surgery experience required

  • Proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting and first-assisting in cardiac surgery.

• Ability to work independently and collaborively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.

• Strong clinical, communicion, and organizional skills.
