This is an MCM footstool made by the George B. Bent Co. in Gardner, MA. This company made furniture in the Colonial Revival style, often crafted from solid woods like hard rock maple or ash. I believe this one is hard rock maple. The company was founded in 1932 and closed in 1983.
Features a wooden frame with ornate, curved upright handles on either side and a plaid upholstered seat.Traditionally designed for reesting feet comfortably, and sometimes referred to as gout or monk's stools.
Probably from the 60's or 70's based on the coloring of the upholstery. There is some. pilling around the edges of the upholstery but it is not that bad for a piece of this age.
