An antique dealer friend gave me this early 1900s chair - partially upholstered with batten and horsehair hanging out.
Here is the upholstered and trimmed outcome. Of course, in typical Stoked Style behavior, I had to have some fun.
The carvings on the top of the frame reminded me of two smiling faces in profile facing one another. I used the woodwork on the sides as captions and inscribed LIVE and LIFE with arrows pointing up to the smiles above.
In addition to amusement, I like to match imperfect materials to contrast with, in this case, the “tidy” upholstery. I used old leather strips that I cut to size and fringed for the chair trim.
The chair’s wheels on front help ease you at a desk or table. I liked that this almost castaway chair was saved from the dump.
Your purchase of Stoked Style furniture means we can help shrink landfills nationally - where discarded furnishings make up 45% of their contents.
Buy this chair - it will love you back and make the planet better. Thanks.
