After years of enjoyment, I am ready to sell my 2007 K1200R and find a new adventure.
There is a reason why the BMW K1200R is a naked super-sport bike prized by racing enthusiasts and collectors - it's one of the finest motorcycles ever made, representing a pinnacle of signature BMW Motorrad machine engineering and sophisticated street style.
Interestingly, the K1200R was designed as a sport touring bike. However, 163 hp and acceleration to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds gained it fame on the racetrack, while BMW's "street hooligan" campaign made it stand out on film in Resident Evil and on street corners around the world. After years of ownership, I wouldn't put it in any class; it's fun, fast, and precise, comfortable for long rides, and always turns headsand I've loved every minute of it.
Beyond it's timeless bad-a$$-from-the-future-apocalypse style, the most notable engineering on the bike may be its highly efficient shaft drive, its duolever suspension (said to be the best front suspension design ever made), or its four cylinder engine set at a 55 degrees for a low center of gravity. Other advanced features include ABS brakes, electronic suspension adjustment, heated grips, spacious seating, and superior ergonomic design, all delivering plenty of thrilling acceleration and comfortable high-speed cruising.
Aftermarket extras on my bike include a Sandbar carbon fiber belly pan, San Jose BMW frame sliders, BMW Motorrad LED indicators, Pirate's Lair Stealth RADAR detector mount and wiring, Garmin GPS, Autocom audio system, Evo Dual Race Air Filters, BMW Motorrad saddle bags, BMW Motorrad top travel bag (not shown but in perfect condition), tank bag, billet bar reservoir cover, cruise control, bar and frame sliders, and a carbon fiber Remus exhaust for cool look and a throaty growl Beethoven might appreciate. Metzeler racing tires. Only 9603 miles on the odometer, original owner, garage kept, regularly serviced, all recalls (2) addressed at dealer, never raced, never dropped. This was my weekend rider. The bike is still in excellent condition and ready for new adventures. One scuff on the top-right side of the belly pan from rubbing in a box truck during transport (shown in photos on right side of bike.)
Photos include a few BMW promo photos (clearly marked with BMW logo), 3 photos of yellow and blue K1200R I liked, 1 photo of a red, white, and blue paint job I had considered, and 1 photo of an Aprilia tail modification I once considered.
These don't come up often, and rarely in this condition. My wife says I should hold on to my bike (SHE is the keeper!) But, I'm ready. If you need to know, I want to buy a couple of dirtbikes and to spend time with her together out in the wild. So, don't miss out on the opportunity to own this exceptional BMW motorcycle; and please, if you do anything, get out there and ride.
