They are from my collection of sempervivums that I started collecting in 1962. Some of the newer ones are from the early 2000's.
Sempervivums are usually called by the common name of Hens and Chicks.
They are also called Houseleeks. The First Holy Roman Emperor, Charlemagne, ordered everyone to plant them on their roofs for protection from lightning, storms and other evils.
The shoe is 11 inches long and planted with Winter hardy sempervivums.
