Now Hiring: Bartender & Barback — Motte (Highlandtown, Baltimore)
Motte, a Korean American restaurant & cocktail bar in Highlandtown, is hiring bartenders and barbacks to join our team. We're a casual-yet-elevated spot with a full liquor license and a fun, fast-paced bar program.
Who we're looking for:
We want people with a genuinely kind, positive personality — polite and warm with guests, easy to work alongside, and real team players. Attitude and work ethic matter most to us: experience is a plus, but if you bring a great attitude and a strong work ethic, we're happy to train you. Reliability is key — we're looking for someone who shows up, takes ownership, and keeps a clean, organized station without being asked.
Bartender responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Taking drink orders and making cocktails for both customers and the service bar
Bar prep — preparing garnishes, syrups, mixers, and getting the bar set up before service
Providing great, friendly customer service
Keeping the bar area clean, safe, and well organized
Monitoring customers' alcohol intake responsibly
Accurately inputting drink and food orders
Balancing the cash register and processing cash and credit card transactions correctly
Taking inventory and alerting the bar-back or management when supplies are low
Maintaining a well-stocked bar — liquor, beer, wine, ice, napkins, straws, fruit trays, specialty cocktail and mocktail garnish trays, glassware, and other accessories
Barback responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Supporting the bartenders so service runs smoothly
Washing dishes and glassware, and polishing glassware
Handling a lot of the bar prep — garnishes, syrups, mixers, restocking, and setup
Keeping ice, supplies, and garnishes fully stocked throughout service
Keeping the bar area clean, safe, and organized
Pitching in wherever the team needs an extra hand
(Many of the same tasks as a bartender, with a focus on prep and supporting the bar)
Pay:
Barback: $10/hr + a percentage of food sales
Bartender: $4/hr + tips
Requirements (both roles):
Positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic (a must!)
Team player who's reliable and takes initiative
Must be available on weekends (Friday–Sunday)
Must be available for late nights and occasional special events
Willing to help with other tasks around the restaurant as needed
Experience preferred but not required — we'll train the right person
Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
