make / manufacturer: Pioneer
model name / number: HPM-1100
size / dimensions: 36x18x14
Pair of Pioneer HPM-1100 loudspeaker cabinets with included crossovers/ input terminals, pots, and grilles. NO SPEAKER DRIVERS ARE INCLUDED. The HPM-1100’s were top-of-the-line of second generation HPM series in 1981. A pair of intact currently valued at well over $2000.

Great for someone who wants to source original drivers and restore or simply use to build out a speaker system with generic parts. These speakers sounded incredible, and the rich deep bass from a good woofer in these cabinets is awesome.

The polymer graphite (PG) oem woofers are extremely rare but other Pioneer woofers and other replacement woofers will fit. Used oem PG midranges and tweeters are readily available online. The supertweeters are extremely rare but aren’t really necessary for most listeners. The 1 3/4” cone tweeters do an excellent job of covering the high frequency range by themselves. And with a 16 kHz crossover point, the supertweets’ extended range output is above the hearing range of most humans. So you could probably just fashion a metal cover plate for the supertweeter openings in the front baffles using thin sheet steel and some screws.

The cabinets and grills have normal wear and tear for their age - scratches, scuffs, chips, imperfect corners. Bear in mind that the finish is actual wood veneer - not vinyl on these - making it possible to restore and refinish. I believe they would look quite nice with the little TLC. Please note that one of the cabinets has some looseness or damage to the joinery along one seam where the engineered wood panels meet. I believe some glue along the interior seems would solve this problem or maybe some woodworking techniques. That same cabinet is also missing the riser base that holds it a couple inches off the floor. This is something you can easily fabricate with normal dimension boards.

Sold as is, cash only, in person pickup only.

You can easily sell the grills and crossovers and the undamaged cabinet on eBay to more than recoup your money. If you don’t want the grills and/or the crossovers, I can lower the price somewhat.

Calls or texts only. I will not respond to email or by email. If ad is up then item is still available.
