Kumi Construction Management Corp. is seeking an Electrical Inspector to work in the Baltimore, MD & Washington, DC.
Position Description:
• Daily inspection of contractor’s work activities, ensuring conformance to plans and specifications
• Draft daily reporting of contractor’s activities
• Resolve construction field issues
• Assist in the RFI, submittal and change order review processes and review of the contractor’s work schedule and schedule implementation
• Maintain daily log including construction quantities and issues
• Maintain field “as-built” drawings
• Monitor on-site contractor safety adherence
• Advise Project Manager of potential issues
• Prepare estimates of extra work
• Prepare related sketches and documentation
• Review plans for constructability and prepare comments
• Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the Project Manager
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
• Working knowledge of the latest National Electric Code and testing criteria for all types of electrical systems
• Minimum 7 years of experience inspecting construction work, varied in size and complexity
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and prepare written contract administration documentation, such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work
• Familiar with mechanical, civil, structural and plumbing sectors
• Familiarity with applicable building codes as they pertain to electrical construction, including: NEC, BOCA, NFPA, OSHA, SHA Green Book
• Working knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, such as: medium voltage supply and distribution systems (up to 15 kv), switchgear, transformers, disconnects, and breakers, motor starters and controllers, commercial power (480/277/240/120 v) and lighting systems and equipment, street lighting and traffic signalization, grounding, special electronic systems, including fire alarm, public address, building controls, telecommunications, and security, wiring and cabling, both copper and optical fiber.
• Working knowledge of standard trade practices, including: delivery and proper storage of materials, inspection for compliance with codes and specifications, lock-out and tag-out procedures, confined space requirements, safe working distances from live equipment, placement, separation and encasement of underground ducts, trenching and backfill for underground ducts and direct buried cables, cleaning and mandrelling of ducts, pulling of cables through conduits and ducts, splicing, terminating, and racking of cables, hypot, megger and ground resistance, trouble shooting and emergency repair procedures.
• Administrative abilities: certification of test results, inspection reporting, certification of service entrances for compliance with NEC, and communication with code enforcement authorities.
