Dr. Yang, a physician-scientist at NIDA, is leading research to develop and improve brain imaging and stimulation techniques that advance our understanding of brain function. Using advanced MRI scans and methods like transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), this research will examine how different brain regions interact and how these connections can be influenced.
Findings from this research will help assess the safety and effectiveness of new TMS approaches, leading to advanced treatments for addiction, depression, and other mental health disorders while supporting brain health and recovery.
Adults ages 18-60, with or without a history of drug use, may be eligible to participate. Participation includes completing assessments such as questionnaires and cognitive tasks across multiple study visits at the NIDA Biomedical Research Center in Baltimore. Visits will include TMS, and some studies may also involve MRI scans. Participants will receive local travel assistance and compensation for their time and effort, with the amount varying based on the specific study task completed.
