1985 Porsche 944, First Generation transaxle German engineering masterpiece!
These cars are known for their great balance and handling. Quick but certainly not fast. Fuel injected but not a turbo. 5 speed manual is the key for driver enjoyment. 944’s are gaining market strength but are still the “poor man’s” Porsche in my opinion. Has Porsche script seat upholstery which is so cool as well as cookie cutter wheels. This is a lower mileage example that has been given a lot of love. Call it a driver grade restoration, which included:
• Replacement dashboard – makes a huge improvement to the interior presentation. The shop did an awesome job fitting this dash at a cost of $3,652
• New front and rear Bilstein shocks
• New control arms and bushings
• New timing belt 2023 with 75,300 miles cost of $1,540
• New alternator belt, A/C belt and power steering belt
• A/C conversion to R134A
• New brakes pads and rotors all the way around with new brake lines
• Coolant flush
• New spark plugs
• Powder coat wheels
• Repaint vehicle in Zermatt Silver
• New battery March 2025
Engine and vehicle are dry – no leaks. Starts right up and has excellent oil pressure. It’s a great little driver. Has an older tint job that I was going to remove but it kind of grew on me. Aftermarket radio which is fine and works well.
In preparation for sale, I will have the vehicle serviced and have the air conditioner checked out. It is not blowing as cold as it should in my opinion. I have documentation if you would like to see the Vehicle History Report and repair receipt from European shop. 76,407 miles currently. The reason for selling is I bought an Ineos Grenadier and need the garage space and money.
