For sale, a 2016 Nissan Versa S, 5 Speed *manual* transmission.
My daughters are both off to college, so its time to let go of the 2016 Nissan Versa that provided them with reliable transportation for six good years. This is a low mileage car with lots of recent maintenance and an upgraded, aftermarket audio system that provides bluetooth, wireless Carplay and Android Auto, steering wheel control integration, and the added safety of a backup camera. Stock this car comes with suprisingly decent front and rear speakers so it all makes for a pleasant infotainment/listening experience. This is the car that both of my daughters learned to drive on, so the clutch took a real beting during that time. At 60,000 miles or so it had to be replaced. My financial pain is your reliability gain as you'll be driving off with a car that has an almost new clutch in it. Recent suspension work and rear brakes (within the last 6 months) are another big plus. The clunks and rattles it used to experience when driving over speed bumps are gone since the suspension work was done and the car now boasts a quiet, comfortable, confident ride. The car gets decent gas mileage and the Nissan engine is said to be bulletproof.
You'll be hard pressed to find a ride this economical, reliable and in decent shape at this price, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First off, this car has a manual transmission. It has no cruise control and the windows and door locks are all operated manually... yes, I'm talking crank windows. There are aftermarket solutions for the door locks and even cruise control if you are so inclined, but as sold this car does not include them. In many ways this is an ideal car to buy for your teenager who wants to learn to drive stick. It has modest levels of power, so it's hard to get in trouble, the manual door locks and windows build character and teach discipline, and it's a four-door sedan that (s)he can load his/her friends into and head down to the mall or the movies. While it's certainly possible to road trip this thing (my girls drove it to D.C. and even Ocean city) in reality this is an ideal in-town runabout. Finally, I should add that there is no reason why this cannot just as easily be an adult driver's only car. It is perfectly searviceable, basic transportation. It'll get you and your passegers or groceries where you want to go without any fuss and bother. If you enjoy the engagement of a manual transmission but just want something simple that always starts when you need it to, this is your car.
At the time of this posting I'm asking $4500 but am open to offers.
As an added bonus I'll throw in a roof rack, brand new in box. I bought it for another car but it turned out to be too small. On a lark I test fitted it to the Nissan and found that it fits perfectly. Haul your Kayaks to the Chesapeake Bay in this thing... no reason why not.
