Brown’s Mule RJR Tobacco Co Tobacco Cutter
It is large, 18" long
An antique cast iron tobacco cutter, embossed with "R.J.R. Tob. Co." (referring to R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company) and "Brown's Mule" (a brand of tobacco).
In that era, tobacco was sold in large "cakes" or plugs, requiring these specialized cutters to prepare smaller, ready-to-use portions.
Mechanically sound, but it does have a flaw; there is a piece missing on one side of the back portion (see picture)
Still a good tobacco history collectible that would look good sitting on a shelf.
Love the piece, but don't love the price, make an offer.
