USFL Debut Weekend. The Washington Federals host the Chicago Blitz on March 6, 1983 at RFK Stadium. (Note: This game was played a few months after the Redskins won Super Bowl XVII). George Allen, Head Coach of the Blitz, returns to RFK Stadium after coaching the Redskins 1971-1977. Blitz defeated the Federals 28-7. The Blitz quarterback was Greg Landry (formally NFL Lions and Colts) completed 19 of 26 passes for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns. This game was the league’s first broadcast on ABC Sports.
