Selling an authentic 1900 Series Dominion of Canada 25-cent fractional banknote, historically nicknamed a "shinplaster". These unique paper bills were issued by the government to handle coin shortages at the excellent, at the turn of the century. An excellent, affordable conversation piece for any historical collection or currency enthusiast. Signature J.M. Courtney (Deputy Minister of Finance). Printed by the American Bank Note Company, Ottawa. The designs features the seated Britannia vignette with trident and shield on the front, an intricate green geometric layout on the reverse, circulated, (Good to Very Good) condition. The note shows typical softening, surface toning and visible vertical/horizontal folds from genuine historical use, but the note paper remains intact without severe tears.
