Vintage Japanese Small Loose Ceremonial Tea Jar - $6 (Baltimore)

I bought it at a flea market several years ago, thinking that it was a lidded teacup, but later saw it listed as the above.
It is pretty enough to use as both. If I could read the Japanese writing on the cup, it might clear things up.(anyone know?)
It holds 4 ounces of water, but don' know how much loose tea.
