Jerome John Garcia (August 1, 1942 – August 9, 1995) was an American musician who was the lead guitarist and a vocalist with the rock band Grateful Dead.

Jerry Garcia ties originated in 1992 when Stonehenge, Ltd. partnered with Garcia to license his distinctive artwork for a line of premium silk neckties, turning his paintings into wearable art that became popular with Deadheads, Wall Street types, and even President Clinton, despite Garcia's personal aversion to ties, creating a successful, distinct line from standard Grateful Dead merchandise.
