The P Y Fubbs was built in 1987 as a one off custom design by Tucker Marine in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was designed to be the fastest paddlewheeler on the Western Rivers and has never lost a paddlewheel race. The Paddle Yacht has been on the Chesapeake since 1996 and is currently owned by Jim and Christy Wilson and kekpt on the Magothy River.
The Paddle Yacht Fubbs is 35' 6" long with a beam of 12' 6" and a draft of 21" & is constructing entirely of aluminum. She is powered by a single 180 HP Cummins diesel that drives two hydraulic pumps. Each sidewheel is powered by its own hydraulic motor. The 9 bucket wheels are feathered & articulated to maximize the power as they pull through the water. Cruising speed is 10 knots with maximum speed of 13+knots.
Forward are two extra twin long berths, head, shower and sink and in aft cabin is galley sink and counters, cabinets. The airhorn is reminiscent of aam whistle and very fitting for the boat. It is often seen cruising the Magothy, the Severn and has participated in several parades in Baltimore.
