10 books from Metropolitan Seminars in Art by John Canaday, Portfolios 3-12, 1958 & 1959

Are you an aficionado of Art history or always wanted to be one?

Color print plates inside a sleeve front ( which are all in great condition) the plates are true colour reproductions of which there are 12. There is also a list of review questions. These books are a true and wonderful guide to art.

These books are absolutely beautiful-and will set you on the path (or at least you'll be able to impress at the next cocktail party). The lessons are manageable (each volume only has about 28 pages). Each volume includes review questions and color reproductions (which could be framed) of the pieces discussed --and the back of each volume has a "Notes on the Painters" section--for quick study or review.

Published in 1958 by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This series is one of John Canaday's (Art Editor & Critic New York Times).

The following Volumes are Included:

Portfolio 3: Expressionism-signs of wear/stress on inside flap of book cover--this is where the review questions and color reproductions are housed.
Portfolio 4: Abstraction-excellent vintage cond.
Portfolio 5: Composition as Pattern-good vintage cond--very slight stress at back binding
Portfolio 6: Composition as Structure-excellent vintage cond.
Portfolio 7: Composition as Expression-
Portfolio 8: Fresco-stress at front top binding, good vintage cond.
Portfolio 9: Tempera and Oil--signs of wear/stress on inside flap of book cover--this is where the review questions and color reproductions are housed.
Portfolio 10: Water Color, Pastel, and Prints-Back page in stuck to back book cover--appears to be a production flaw--does not compromise text in any way
Portfolio 11: The Artist as a Social Critic-excellent vintage cond
Portfolio 12: The Artist as a Visionary--slight tear on inside flap of book cover--this is where the review questions and color reproductions are housed.
