Here is a rare opportunity to acquire a classic vintage reed organ suitable for a home practice instrument or small church. Made by the Estey Company of Brattleborough, Vermont, this two manual with pedal board reed organ dates from the early 20th Century (serial number 359172). The specification is close to the Estey Style "T58", with some case elements of the normal Style "T". (See http://www.esteyorgan.com/StyleT.htm). (For the "purists" reading this, and in full disclosure, the organ itself and the gallery were acquired at different times and from different sources, so please excuse the minor disagreement in styles.)
It is complete except for some easily fabricated case parts including the music shelf and heel rest of the bench (seats three!) and the rear cover panel of the case. Like most organs of this type, the gallery display "pipes" are non-functional and for visual appeal only.
The organ case is of oak wood construction with a 30 note, flat and straight (non-radiating) pedal board. Internal evidence indicates that there had at one time been an external blowing capability, confirmed by the rectangular hole on the treble side of the case in which was mounted an electrical wall switch, which I since removed. The organ can be winded by the original foot treadles, by the original "choir boy" manual blow handle which fits the pumping apparatus, or if desired, returned to electric operation (pump not provided.)
Dimensions are as follows:
Width - 69"
Height, not including gallery - 67 1/2"
Gallery adds 53 1/2" to height
Depth including pedal board - 50"
Depth without pedal board - 32"
Depth if "shoulders" of case are removed (difficult dis-assembly) - 22 1/2"
Sold as-is, where-is, F.O.B. Baltimore. PLEASE NOTE: The organ is presently NON-FUNCTIONAL. Restoration services available at additional cost if desired. Pick-up in Charles Village, Baltimore ONLY, cannot ship, but will help load into your conveyance.
