Three nicely framed color prints of Japanese artist Yosa Buson. Two are prints of screens by Buson in the Japanese Nanga style, derived from the Southern School of Chinese painting (Thatched Hut in a Bamboo Thicket; The Bridle-Path Through the Willow Grove) and one is a haiku drawing/painting (haiku not showing) "Hanami Gasan". This happy-looking man with a gourd at his feet was a character named Matahei from Chikamatsu Monzaemon's Joruri play "Keisei Hangonko."
The juxtaposition of the two styles by the same artist is very interesting (and amusing!) They are in a gold frame.
