Senior Staff Accountant (Columbia)

compensation: Salary commensurate with experience
employment type: full-time

Excellent opportunity for a Senior Staff Accountant. This individual will take over everyday responsibility for maintaining the general ledger and review of the work of 1 Accounting staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
 Prepare monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.
 Responsible for general ledger.
 Review Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and process Payroll transactions.
 Serve as backup for all Accounting functions.
 Oversee monthly schedule and Closing.
 Fixed asset maintenance.
 Prepare/Review bank, credit card and General Ledger account reconciliations.
 Research and reconcile all discrepancies.
 Developing/following proper internal controls.
 Develop and maintain processes for other areas that interact with Accounting.
 Prepare and provide Audit and Tax schedules, as necessary.
 Financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis.
 Directing day-to-day work of 1 Accounting personnel.
 Collaborate with other back office personnel and divisional personnel.
 Partially remote
QUALIFICATIONS:
 Must have an Accounting/Finance degree and at least 3 years of progressive Accounting experience.
 Experience within public Accounting or providing required schedules to Accounting firm.
 Corporate and payroll tax knowledge.
 Solid communications skills.
 Strong computer and analysis skills.
 Proficient in Excel.
 Experience with Quickbooks or other government contract Accounting software is helpful.
 Federal government contracting experience is required.
 Accuracy in daily work and other projects.
 Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
 Adherence to policies, procedures and instructions from management.
 Ability to maintain good working relationships with vendors and other employees.
 Ability to function as a team player.
