About the Role:
The Government Audit Coordinator is responsible for overseeing, managing, and tracking all government audit activities, including but not limited to RAC (Recovery Audit Contractor), MAC (Medicare Administrative Contractor), CERT (Comprehensive Error Rate Testing), and other federal and state audits. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, timely responses to audit requests, and accurate documentation throughout the audit lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Audit Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for all government audit requests and inquiries.
Coordinate and manage the end-to-end audit process, including initial notification, data collection, submission, and follow-up.
Track audit timelines and ensure deadlines are met. Compliance & Documentation Maintain accurate records of all audit activities, correspondence, and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and federal regulations related to audits and appeals.
Prepare and submit required documentation and evidence to auditors.
Communication & Collaboration: Work closely with Revenue Cycle, Coding, Billing, and Clinical teams to gather necessary information.
Communicate audit findings and outcomes to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
Provide education and guidance to internal teams on audit processes and compliance requirements.
Reporting & Analysis: Develop and maintain audit tracking tools and dashboards.
Analyze audit trends and outcomes to identify risk areas and recommend process improvements.
Prepare regular reports for leadership on audit status, financial impact, and compliance metrics.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience: 3-5 years of exprience with government audits (RAC, MAC, CERT, etc) strongly preferred
Certification: CCS, CPC, RHIA or RHIT preferred
