MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Are you interested in working with people from diverse cultures? Do you want to help refugee children who live in the Baltimore area?
Baltimore City Community College is seeking volunteers for the Refugee Youth Project! The Refugee Youth Project is an after-school program that provides a safe and nurturing environment for recently arrived refugee students in the Baltimore area, as well as academic support in high needs areas such as reading and math.
Time commitment: 2 hours a week or more
Skills: Experience or a strong desire to educate children, ESL experience and experience working with refugee populations a plus
RYP Volunteer Tutors would attend at least one tutoring session a week and help students with their homework, as well as doing simple math, ESL, and arts activities with the students. Volunteers are also needed to help chaperone monthly field trips to the Walters Art Museum and weekend field trips in the spring. Full training is provided to all volunteers.
If you are interested in making a real difference in the life of a young refugee, please contact the BCCC Refugee Youth Project Coordinator Amy Harmon at amyharmon100@gmail.com for more information and to learn about upcoming Volunteer Trainings!
