now for the ramble

Yesterday I saw a kitten in the street just sitting very still. So I slowed down and did the kiss kiss sound and omg!! when I turned around to say something to my son there were like 8 cats standing still in a parking lot infront of a dumpster standing still. Look like something off a horror movie. they were mostly grey and it was dark so it had a creepy effect. What made me notice them is i saw qquick movement from the side of my eye. I was thinking.. were they running toward the car. I couldnt really tell they were all standing very still but they were facing the car So I did the kiss kiss sound again and yeah two of them responded quickly the others inched. I went to the dollar store to get some food. I put some food out and a big fat grey one went at it. that I believe is a once was pet or still is. The others were scared and would only come close if I moved far away. The one we saw in the street eventually let us pick it up. (when I say us I mean my son. He insisted on trying.) it was thinner thin the others. we brought it home. Anyway while we were trying to win that cats trust 2 new cats walked up. A prety black one and a persian. That Persian is definately someones cat. was not scared of me at all. tried to eat the food out of my hand. im to scared of them to let them do that so yeah. But the others are scardy cats. I was wondering though are females just nice she didnt trust us at first and she dont really like the pick up thing but she loves attention and even though she tried to get away she didn't bit or scratch. There was anothe female cat around my way that was nice too. are they nice or just desperate to get away from those pain in the butt males. She's alot smaller then we thought. Look like a kitten. short thin body. Anyway I thought about the tnr thing but after almost catching a big grey male and him busting out a closed cage I desided cats are not for everyone. I am just scared of cats. I dont trust them. But i dont think they should suffer either.
If anyone is interested in this colonie email me. I think I saw two of them in my allie. looks like they maybe spreading out. dont know how they work. But imagine that this cat and 2 other females in that colonie have babies. They are gonna take over the world for sure. vet told me its gonna cost me 250 for the cat. I didn't catch this cat in a humane trap so i dont think they gonna reduce price. she cost more than my dog did. so this is the end of me trying to rescue animals. I had enough excitment. well I may try small dogs. take a couple of classes first. cats scare me. ive seen them climb up walls. they hug it stick the claws in it and start climbing. and sometimes they give you this creepy look. they sneak around... show up in the wiredest places. I remember my grandmas cat. you wake up and they are sleeping on your head. smack you with their tales. they they... they.... anyway they do what cats do. to me they are more complicated. belive it or not my favorite movie is garfield. I love that cat. wouldn't trust him as far as i could see him though. as sweet as this kitten is when she stretches her neck up like she sees something interesting on top of my head I run. lol Anyways I hope someones interested in this colonie. This is not actrully at my house but at the apartments behind where i live and they will travel through our alley. A male that i always see in my alley popped up their. that cat is incharge you hear me. When he walked up every feline ran. shooo I got in the car. He always chase this grey and white cat up my tree and when i open the window to see whats the noise he politely climbs down and before he walks off he looks at me. wonder what he's thinking. he's a handsome thing though. sorry I talk to much. Anyway I think that the the others are male. to me they behave like males. not sure about the black or the persian. Please remember when you adopt a rescued animal you are saving 2 lives. You saved the animals life you adopted and a shelter animal that the rescue now has room for.

When you foster a animal you are saving his/her life, without fosters we wouldn't be able to save as many dogs. Without foster homes there wouldn't be rescues.

Adoption fees are generally $140 to $160 per dog which includes each dog's spay/neuter surgery, rabies, distemper and Kennel cough vaccines, test for heartworm and lyme disease and de worming for intestinal parasites. Senior dogs over 7 are $90 to $110.

Fostering helps save lives. We do not have a shelter and without fosters homes we have no where for the dogs/cats to go. We cover all vet care, food, and provide a crate if needed. The foster parents care for the dogs as their own, but for a limited length of time -- just until we find a permanent home for them. They provide shelter, toys, and human interaction. Many of these dogs have never been loved, you can be first to show them what it's like to be loved!

Andrea is a super sweet girl, a year or two old, with only one eye. She is BEAUTIFUL and great with other cats, very friendly and would do well with kids. She does not need any special care.




Llewelyn

This sweet girl was rescued from the mean streets when she was at the point of starvation. She had a terrible break to her rear leg which ultimately needed to be amputated. She is good with other cats and doing well on 3 legs! Llewelyn is estimated to be about 8 - 10 months old. She does fine on steps and does not need any special care.




Lionel

Lionel is a docile sweetie who was rescued from the streets and has been in our program for over TWO YEARS. He has sensitive skin/allergies that he eats a special diet for. We are willing to pay for the food and his care at our vet. He is a super sweet boy who would be perfect for an older person or couple. We are willing to waive his adoption fee for the right family.




Mocha

Mocha is a unique kitty to say the least. She has her sweet moments but generally she is very independent. She does very well with other cats. Mocha has two issues: one is that she has seizures which are controlled by twice-daily medication. The second is a diabetic condition which causes her to drink a lot of water. Mocha is about a year old, and plays like a kitten. She is very tolerant though she does tend to grumble when you pick her up! Once again, we are willing to provide continuing care at our vet. We are willing to waive her adoption fee for the right family.

[Four of our cockers -- Buffy, Buddy, Coach, and Gus -- who need foster homes, are pictured below.]

You commit to fostering the dogs for a few weeks or until we find them their "furever" home. We pay for all vetting approved by the OBG Board. You provide love, a home and answer emails about the doggie from potential adopters. If your foster dog is "show ready" we also ask that you take him/her to two adoption shows a month for 3-4 hours. Additional details on our foster program can be provided by the OBG Foster Coordinator.

Please consider helping, OBG is full and we have a long list of dogs from shelters and owners who can on longer keep their dogs waiting to come in. There is no more room to bring in dogs in need . . . and in some cases dogs that we can't save may be euthanisized at kill shelters!
