Airport Construction Inspector Requirements:
Experience: The successful candidate must have 2-3 years of experience on airport construction projects. Prior experience on FAA & DOT construction projects is beneficial. Applicants must have working knowledge of construction inspection and testing activities (i.e. concrete inspection and soils testing). Applicants must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required skills: Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents. Inspector certifications should include asphalt, concrete, soils and aggregates, traffic control, erosion control, and final estimates. Prior knowledge of operations and facilities (i.e. Airport runway, taxiway, storm drainage, etc.) within an active airport environment is required.
Required certifications:
• American Concrete Institute (ACI)
• Nuclear training
Duties include:
• Reads and interprets drawings and specifications
• Inspects various facets of work on construction site
• Conducts quality control materials field testing for concrete, asphalt or soil as applicable
• Provides field measurements and reports for payment quantities and changes in work
• Prepares inspection reports
