L-3 Communications, Applied Signal & Image Technology (L-3 ASIT) is seeking a Sr. Field Engineer for our Linthicum Heights, MD location. The Sr. Field Engineer will be responsible for the integration, test, calibration, verification and training of L-3 ASIT SIGINT/COMINT airborne and ground systems and subsystems. Will take the lead in developing test capabilities, plans and procedures generated from the systems engineering group as well as supporting independent test execution and field level operational test capability. The Field Engineer will support the trouble-shooting, diagnosis, rework, repair, inspection and maintenance of fielded airborne and ground SIGINT/COMINT systems and subsystems. This position also supports the development and implementation of customer/user operational and maintenance training. This employee will frequently work off site with little or no direction, deployed in the field or working directly with L-3 ASIT’s customers. The Field Engineer will communicate the desires and wishes of the customer back to the L-3 ASIT engineers and program management to enhance product and system performance.
DUTIES
•Responsible for supporting engineering design, integration, test, calibration and verification of complex products and systems for air, ground, vehicular, and manpack applications in the field.
•Responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, reworking, repairing & performing maintenance on complex instruments, assemblies, subassemblies and systems in the field.
•Responsible for ensuring L-3 ASIT quality requirements are maintained in fielded products and systems. Provide recommended quality improvements of ASIT developed products for design updates, manufacturability considerations, and testability improvements.
•Provides technical expertise to peers or subordinates through mentoring or supervising other engineering staff.
•Supports proposal development, generating high level trade-offs, design approaches, technical write-ups and engineering estimates.
•Responsible for leading operational customer demonstrations of L-3 ASIT products and systems.
•Generate test and calibration procedures and plans based on System Engineering inputs to ensure systems and subsystems meet all the specifications and/or requirements.
•Generate and maintain L-3 ASIT SIGINT/COMINT system and subsystem training documentation for operations and maintenance.
•Responsible for tracking customer complaints/problems to ensure they are properly addressed, identifying root cause and acceptable solutions.
•Support extended travel in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
• AS degree (or 4 yrs of military experience) or equivalent combination of education and experience plus a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience and/or training is required.
• Must have experience with using Microsoft Office
• Must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
