This space would work well for painters, draftspeople, illustrators, designers, concept and performance artists, and can even serve as a great work, study, and contemplation space, or a flexible office, for writers, programmers, and so forth.

All reuseable equipment and furniture that is not part of each artists personal kit will be shared and used in common. The law of basic courtesy and mutual respect prevails. There will be many people renting access to this space, and there is no "my" here. That's why the prices are so low.

We are still in process of getting everyone in, but the spots are going fast, and the time is limited. We are trying to fill the space to capacity before the end of the month. We know and understand that its the holidays, and everyone is busy, but if you want in on the space for this coming season, even for later (we can hold a spot with your deposit for later months), you should reserve your spot now. If you RSVP now, we'll be available to meet you in the space Thursday and Friday evening, after around 5 or so. We can also arrange meetings during the weekend, and some days of the coming week, but on a case by case basis.

Baltimore Sun police reporter Justin Fenton just got a call back from the Detroit Police Department, and they've adjusted the stats they sent to the FBI: instead of 306 murders, as they had reported, the real number is 339. That puts detroit's per-capita murder rate at 37.5 per 100,000. Baltimore, with a rate of 36.9, falls from number 1 to number 2 for cities with populations above 500,000. Not that this means anything to the victims�or makes the city any more safe, but certainly a relief�for those who view statistics�with�reverence.�

St. Abraham Baptist Church is having a Christmas Play this friday @ 7pm. It's going to be a great play, the only problem is that our background scenes aren't finished yet! Our artist got called to jury duty, then to work, so he hasn't been able to get the job done like we thought he would. So we're reaching out to any and all artists (draw and paint types) to help us, we'll really be pulling together tomorrow starting first thing in the morning. All the paper, tape, paint etc will be provided you just need to show up and bring your brushes and anything you find you can't work without. Lunch will be provided. Sometime back in the later half of summer there was a posting in Baltimore for artists and writers to help with a start up magazine called, LaMinx Magazine. It was to be published quarterly. There was supposed to be a weekly ezine as well. Long story short, I did some work for them and never saw a magazine published. They did have what looked to be a legitimate site with a banner and photo slide that said, LaMinx Magazine, coming summer 2009. ...Well that never happened either, and shortly after I submitted my work, I rechecked the site and it said, as it does to this day, "this domain is out of service".

I emailed the people a couple times and never got a response. Sounds like spam right? Sure does. Normally I wouldn't fall for such things, but they really went out of their way to make it seem legitimate as possible. Maybe the magazine never got off the ground, I don't know. What really makes me irritated, is that my images may be out there and fraudulently used by someone else. If anyone out there fell for the same thing or something similar, or knows anything about it, I would appreciate it you could send me any input. The supposed names of the people behind the orchestration are Autumn and Alethea. Thanks for any help.

The Lost and Found Collective is currently seeking new studio mates for our community work space at 810 N. Calvert. The space is two floors, approximately 2000 Square Feet, and will be shared by all members at either $50 dollars a month (for a 6 month to a year commitment - up front if at all possible, though we are currently open to discussion), or at $75 dollars on a flexible, month to month basis.

I can meet you at the space most days from 6 PM to 8 PM. Please email me with an RSVP if you'd like to come by. Or call me at 301 908 1925 (Leave a message or text me with your nameif I don't pick up and I get back to you asap). We're trying to get this place to be fully self sustainable financially starting this month, so artists looking to start using the space right away are very much encouraged. I am also available at other times, generally late afternoon or early to late evening, most of the week, so if those times don't work for you, please let me know and we'll just set a time to meet when it works for you. Basically, just email me and we'll go from there!

As for what a community work space is, and how it works, the basic setup is such:

- All members will have 24 hour access to the space - They will be responsible financially for their own keys (the cost of making copies). There are currently four keys - one for the back (garage door) entrance, and three for entrance from the front - main door, alley door, and studio door. Just please make sure you keep doors locked when not in use.

- Personal storage in the space will be limited. However, members can have their own (portable) storage box with a lock for most basic supplies, and will, in addition, be able to store wet or in-progress work (within reason) for as long as needed - all long term storage situations will simply be negotiated with the studio manager and, if necessary for very particular cases, with the group as a whole.

- Lockers, more chairs and tables, as well as storage racks, should hopefully become available shortly - but we are starting out with what little we have. Members are encouraged to bring in furniture and reuseable equipment that they do not mind sharing with others for the duration of their membership, or at least the first month. There will likely be a one time $50 equipment fee for starting up - the sum of these collected fees will go towards purchasing collective furniture for the space, repairs, and any improvements - first step is lockers and more portable tables.

- There is a studio manager (yours truly) that will serve as the arbitrator of disputes and the go to person for requests, questions, and special work arrangements. In addition, there will be a community meeting held on a weekly basis to which all members are welcome to come and discuss and vote, and all interested parties are welcome to come and participate in general. This will be a good occasion to discuss any issues with me and each other. I will also make myself available by phone and email.

- I am responsible for the space financially and legally, so all matters affecting those two aspects will have to clear through me. However, we want to make this as much of a collaborative effort as possible, so all suggestions and motions are welcome and will be listened to and, whenever possible and voted on, implemented.

- Though there is a small storage allottment given to each person, this is a fully shared and communal space (that's why its so cheap). There will be, ideally, a good number of other members, so all members will be expected to be flexible, accomodating, and respectful of each other. All space, permanent equipment and furniture (such as tables and stools) belongs to everyone. If you come into the studio and you're alone, the entire 2000 SF are yours to use. If there are ten other people there, no one person takes precedence over the other.

The Lost and Found Collective is currently seeking new studio mates for our community work space at 810 N. Calvert. The space is two floors, approximately 2000 Square Feet, and will be shared by all members at either $50 dollars a month (for a 6 month to a year commitment - up front if at all possible, though we are currently open to discussion), or at $75 dollars on a flexible, month to month basis.

I can meet you at the space most days from 6 PM to 8 PM. Please email me with an RSVP if you'd like to come by. Or call me at 301 908 1925 (Leave a message or text me with your nameif I don't pick up and I get back to you asap). We're trying to get this place to be fully self sustainable financially starting this month, so artists looking to start using the space right away are very much encouraged. I am also available at other times, generally late afternoon or early to late evening, most of the week, so if those times don't work for you, please let me know and we'll just set a time to meet when it works for you. Basically, just email me and we'll go from there!

As for what a community work space is, and how it works, the basic setup is such:

- All members will have 24 hour access to the space - They will be responsible financially for their own keys (the cost of making copies). There are currently four keys - one for the back (garage door) entrance, and three for entrance from the front - main door, alley door, and studio door. Just please make sure you keep doors locked when not in use.

- Personal storage in the space will be limited. However, members can have their own (portable) storage box with a lock for most basic supplies, and will, in addition, be able to store wet or in-progress work (within reason) for as long as needed - all long term storage situations will simply be negotiated with the studio manager and, if necessary for very particular cases, with the group as a whole.

- Lockers, more chairs and tables, as well as storage racks, should hopefully become available shortly - but we are starting out with what little we have. Members are encouraged to bring in furniture and reuseable equipment that they do not mind sharing with others for the duration of their membership, or at least the first month. There will likely be a one time $50 equipment fee for starting up - the sum of these collected fees will go towards purchasing collective furniture for the space, repairs, and any improvements - first step is lockers and more portable tables.

- There is a studio manager (yours truly) that will serve as the arbitrator of disputes and the go to person for requests, questions, and special work arrangements. In addition, there will be a community meeting held on a weekly basis to which all members are welcome to come and discuss and vote, and all interested parties are welcome to come and participate in general. This will be a good occasion to discuss any issues with me and each other. I will also make myself available by phone and email.

- I am responsible for the space financially and legally, so all matters affecting those two aspects will have to clear through me. However, we want to make this as much of a collaborative effort as possible, so all suggestions and motions are welcome and will be listened to and, whenever possible and voted on, implemented.

- Though there is a small storage allottment given to each person, this is a fully shared and communal space (that's why its so cheap). There will be, ideally, a good number of other members, so all members will be expected to be flexible, accomodating, and respectful of each other. All space, permanent equipment and furniture (such as tables and stools) belongs to everyone. If you come into the studio and you're alone, the entire 2000 SF are yours to use. If there are ten other people there, no one person takes precedence over the other.

Have you ever wanted to try working with glass, but didn't know how to start? Here is the perfect opportunity! During the 6-week class students will learn the fundamentals of working and forming molten glass into beautiful shapes. During each 2 hour session, students will be making bowls, vases, and custom sculptures. Students will also become familiar with equipment and movement in the hot shop, as well as how to work with a partner.

Many similar courses take a "per item" approach, charging you each session for one attempt at a pre-defined shape leaving no room for mistakes, and leaves you sitting around watching other students 90% of the time and costing more than double.

We won't waste time on techniques and concepts you don't need, just to kill your course time. Your registration fee entitles you to 2 solid hours each week of solid, hands on experience. Classes are structured to give all students something to do - if you're not at the furnance, youre working glass or helping others shape. You won't sit around waiting and watching.

This is the perfect class to get a solid foundation in glassblowing and lays the groundwork for a lifelong creative outlet. No experience necessary!

NEW - For advanced students and partipants of the basic program - there is a continuation class offered immediately after the basic program - where students will learn advanced techniques, color concepts and produce original sculptures and designs.

We are not an "art school" - so you will not be charged extra for equipment, furnace time or materials. I am a private artist, professionally trained and offering my experience and equipment to give non-artists a complete introduction to the world of glass blowing. My fees cover my basic costs for equipment and studio time. If you aren't satisfied with your class time any given week, i will personally spend extra time with you.
